The duration of “Napoleon”, Ridley Scott’s biopic about the French Emperor played by Joaquin Phoenix has been revealed.
Planned when it was announced for a direct release on Apple+, the long-awaited Napoleon by Ridley Scott will finally be released in cinemas on November 22.
The official duration of the feature film centered on the French Emperor played here by Joaquin Phoenix was revealed on the official website of a rating agency in South Korea. The film would therefore last 157.43 minutes or 2h37.
A duration that does not denote with that of the director’s previous films since House of Gucci also lasted 2h37 and The Last Duel, 2h33 while Gladiator, released in 2000, had a duration of 2h35.
This biopic on Napoleon Bonaparte looks back on his origins and his rise to the title of Emperor, seen through the prism of his relationship with his wife Joséphine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The French Tahar Rahim and Ludivine Sagnier are also in the cast.
According to the agency, the feature film would be banned for those under 18 in South Korea due to violence and explicit sexual content. But the classification scales are not the same as in France, it will be necessary to wait a few more months before knowing the decision of the CNC.
Be that as it may, the first returns of the feature film are dithyrambic and some are already qualifying Ridley Scott’s film as a masterpiece.
When announcing the film’s theatrical release date, Apple said in a statement that Ridley Scott’s film: “offers a personal vision and approach to Napoleon’s origins and his ruthless and rapid rise, through the prism of his addictive and explosive relationship with his wife and only love, Joséphine.“

The prolific Ridley Scott has already joined the filming of his next film since he is currently filming Gladiator 2, scheduled in our theaters for November 20, 2024.
