2K Games takes the plunge and announces the upcoming release of a new Top Spin

That was thirteen years ago now. A French player ranked in the top 10 of the ATP rankings, with Novak Djokovic already taking first place and Rafael Nadal winning once again on the clay of Roland-Garros in an Iberian-Spanish final against David Ferrer. But in 2011, it was the last time that the Top Spin license invaded our consoles and our PCs. Since then, amateurs have only had a few ersatz to put themselves under the pad like AO International Tennis, Tennis World Tour 2 or Mario Tennis Aces. In short, nothing very conclusive for amateurs.

This is why the very recent announcement from 2K Games is enough to surprise (and thrill) all virtual tennis players. Indeed, Top Spin is considered by many to be the best video game representative of this discipline. The anticipation around the title is therefore very high even if we don’t know much about the game. The 21-second trailer generously revealed by 2K Games (already publisher of numerous sports game licenses such as NBA2K, PGA Tour 2K, WWE 2K…) doesn’t give much additional information and, at the moment, only the developer is known. It is therefore Hangar 13, which we mainly know for the game series Mafia, which carries all the hopes of tennis fans. Suffice to say that if the game does not live up to expectations, it may well find itself at the bottom of a river with pretty concrete shoes.

For the moment, we do not know the official release date or the different platforms that will have the joy of welcoming Top Spin 2K25. It’s a safe bet that the PS5, Xbox Series and PC will be in the tournament. We will be a little more reserved regarding the port to older consoles like the PS4 or the Xbox One.
