• The new series from the “Game of Thrones” makers is well received by Netflix fans. The sci-fi epic revolves around an impending alien invasion.
• We spoke to the actors Thomas Wade and Shi Qiang, who you may already know from GoT and the MCU.
• Benedict Wong and Liam Cunningham talk about “wrestling on an open fire” to fight out the dynamics on the “3 Body Problem” set.

The new Netflix series “3 Body Problem” from “Game of Thrones” creators DB Weiss and David Benioff started on March 21, 2023. With Liam Cunningham, they have brought back the Onion Knight aka Davos Seewert from GoT for their new project and, with Benedict Wong, they have caught one of the favorites from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The two of them play the puppet masters in the sci-fi series and we were allowed to interview the duo in advance. The two actors, who are in the mood for jokes, reveal how they developed their entertaining dynamic, which is transmitted to us viewers via the television screen: wrestling around the campfire!

When asked how the two actors developed their dynamic, they jokingly replied that they fought out the hierarchy with wrestling matches around the campfire. In keeping with her humorous wrestling anecdote, Wong concludes: “We take our work very seriously, but never ourselves.”

The key to good collaboration is “laughter and the joy of just being in each other’s company.” Wong refers to this as their work ethic. When it’s fun, many things are easier, which allows the actors to improvise.

Cunningham compares it to “tennis.” You pass a few balls to each other and then see how you can transform them.

Give yourself a few tries, because you know the other person won’t judge you. We want each other to try something out, because if it creates something great, I can play with it and vice versa.

Will Benedict Wong return soon for “Doctor Strange 3”?

In 2021 and 2022, Benedict Wong had a real run in the MCU. As Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, he appeared in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and the series “What If… ?” and “She-Hulk.”

Then everything went quiet about the “Wong Cinematic Universe,” as the actor jokingly referred to it at a red carpet premiere. When asked when and if he would return, he unfortunately remains vague.

Can I talk about this…? I’m very busy at the moment. […] But hopefully I’ll be back soon.

This doesn’t sound particularly optimistic, but the last hope is that Wong will soon celebrate his big MCU comeback.

Does the Onion Knight from “Game of Thrones” like onions?

Last but not least, we couldn’t resist asking Liam Cunningham, the Onion Knight from “Game of Thrones”, if he likes onions. He shouts enthusiastically: “I eat them raw! I brush my teeth with them!” That makes all of our GoT fan hearts happy, doesn’t it?
