3:2 victory against St. Gallen – Joker Fink redeems FCB – Sport

  • FC Basel beat St. Gallen 3-2 after a tough fight.
  • Joker Bradley Fink scored in the 83rd minute immediately after being substituted on for the win.
  • In the second Saturday game, GC and FCZ separate 1:1.

Bradley Fink was on the pitch for just 29 seconds when he headed a cross from Michael Lang into the net. The 19-year-old forward’s first Super League goal is an important one. It still helped FC Basel to win against St. Gallen, who were decimated from the 33rd minute (Basil Stillhart saw red for an emergency brake).

Amdouni striking – St. Gallen passionate

The game in St. Jakob-Park offered great entertainment from the first minute. As usual, the guests acted with open visors, and an attractive exchange of blows developed. The home team reacted vehemently to the early goal by Jérémy Guillemenot (5th).

  • 15 minutes: Zeki Amdouni reacts the quickest after a rebound from goalie Zigi and scores to make it 1-1.
  • 17 minutes: It’s again 21-year-old Amdouni, who skilfully creates space in the penalty area and hits Zigi’s back via the post and goalie to put them 2-1 ahead.

The fact that the game stayed open for so long is due to two circumstances. On the one hand, FCB failed to top it up. On the other hand, St. Gallen never gave up, even when outnumbered. Chadrac Akolo Ababa (26th) shot the post with a numerical tie. But even after that, the eastern Swiss always looked for the way forward.

Three disputed scenes together result in a penalty

Finally, a penalty goal by Captain Lukas Görtler equalized in the 71st minute. This was preceded by a tackle by FCB defender Kasim Adams against substitute Alessandro Kräuchi. The ball had actually already jumped when the Ghanaian cleared it. But referee Sandro Schärer probably had no choice but to point to the point after two previously unpunished controversial scenes (one with Adams against Guillemenot and a shirt pluck against Patrick Sutter) and after intervention by VAR.

The St. Gallen were almost rewarded for their passionate performance. But FCB coach Alex Frei showed a golden touch by substituting Fink. The second win in a row should bring some calm to the Rheinknie.
