400 Floriani required – storms raged again in Pinzgau and Pongau

A strong thunderstorm hit parts of Salzburg late on Monday evening. In Pinzgau and Pongau, almost 400 firefighters had to go out into the night for a total of 53 missions.

In Piesendorf, Rauris, Taxenbach, St. Veit, Hüttschlag, St. Martin am Tennengebirge, Flachau, Dorfgastein and Wagrain, for example, several cellars were under water and streets were flooded. It was also necessary to solve blockages in streams. The first fire brigades moved out around 8 p.m.

A large mudslide broke out in Lend and blocked the access to the Gastein Valley for a long time. During the night, the entrance to the valley was once again open to traffic.

The B163 between Wagrain and St. Johann will remain completely closed at least until Tuesday morning. There was also a great mudslide there. There was an acute risk of falling rocks.
