417 km/h: Youtube video shows frenzy on the German autobahn – police are investigating

Czech multi-millionaire Radim Passer posted a video on YouTube showing him speeding down a German autobahn at 417 km/h. The police are now investigating. There is no speed limit on the Autobahn section.

According to his own statements, the Czech multimillionaire Radim Passer drove a Bugatti Chiron on the German Autobahn A2 between Berlin and Hanover at up to 417 km/h (GPS measured, 414 km/h according to the speedometer). There is no speed limit on this three-lane section of motorway, which runs dead straight for a few kilometers. Nevertheless, the police are now investigating “because of an illegal street race”, as Spiegel Online reports.

According to Radim Passer, he recorded his high-speed drive with a GoPro action cam that he had installed in his Chiron. He posted this recording online on his YouTube channel. According to him, the recording was made in July 2021 and – as you can see on the video – at dawn (on a Sunday). With a Porsche 911 Turbo, a Lamborghini Aventador and a Bentley Flying Spur, he also undertook, in his own words, rapid drives – which critics would probably describe as frenzy. Passer had a passenger in the supercar while he was driving the Chiron.

600 meters until the car stops

The video clearly shows Passer overtaking several other cars in the Bugatti that are correctly on the right lane. In the description of his YouTube video, Passer emphasizes how important security is to him. But even if there is no speed limit on the motorway section in question, it is doubtful that other road users expect to be overtaken by a vehicle that is traveling at over 400 km/h. If just one of these other road users changes to the far left for whatever reason – perhaps due to a driving error as a result of “microsleep” – then Passer can no longer react in time and avoid an accident. The Bugatti’s high-speed brakes don’t change that.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung quotes an accident researcher as saying: “On public roads, where there are other road users, such speeds (…) cannot be controlled” and “the worst thing is that people think they can.” they forget the reaction time, which is at least a second”. According to the SZ, the Bugatti Chiron needs more than 600 meters in the event of an emergency stop at 400 km/h before it finally comes to a standstill (reaction time around 120 meters plus 500 meters braking distance). Over 600 meters!

It makes sense that Passer emphasizes in his description that he is a believer and believes in Jesus. Given Passer’s driving style, it’s to be hoped that the Guardian Angel will be fast enough to keep up with the Bugatti Chiron…

Even the FDP is too quick

According to Spiegel Online, even the FDP-led Ministry of Transport criticized the high-speed drive. The current Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing (FDP), is known to be against a speed limit on German autobahns.

By the time of going to press, the video had been viewed more than 6.6 million times. But it only got a little over 70,000 likes. Many viewers have probably rated the video with “I don’t like”/dislike – but this number has not been seen on YouTube since the last change.

The Bugatti Chiron is a super sports car with a 1500 hp engine. Bugatti has been part of the Volkswagen Group for a long time.
