After the violent explosion at a power plant construction site in the Tyrolean Kühtai, in which a worker was killed on Wednesday, the investigation into the exact course of the accident continues. In the meantime, the identity of the victim has been determined: It is a 47-year-old Austrian.
An expert was on-site on Thursday, and further interrogations of witnesses are planned for Friday, a police spokesman told the APA.
According to previous knowledge, the victim was likely to have drilled into a detonator during the course of underground tunneling work for the bypass tunnel for a previously unknown cause. The worker from the construction consortium was fatally injured by the detonation. The work in the tunnel has been stopped for the time being, announced the state-owned energy supplier Tiwag.
A fire broke out in another tunnel on the same construction site in mid-September. A drill truck caught fire. Six workers suffered slight smoke poisoning. They had been able to save themselves in a designated container in good time.
