SC Bern cannot find its way out of the crisis during the guest appearance in Lugano. Coach Johan Lundskog’s team conceded their 8th defeat in a row and falls under the line. Bern took a 2-0 lead in regular time with goals from Timothy Kast (13′) and Cory Conacher (21′). Kast was also the focus of the Ticino goal. His penalty had just expired when Luca Fazzini scored to make it 2-1. The Bern striker then complained about not being released from the penalty box in time. Calvin Thürkauf (56th) saved Lugano in extra time, where Bern had the better chances but missed the decision. In the penalty shoot-out, the home team secured the flattering extra point.
Train – Langnau 8:2
Yves Sarault is still waiting for the first point after the 4th game on the SCL Tigers gang. At Meister Zug, the Emmentalers not only lost the game, but also goalkeeper Ivars Punnenovs after 5 minutes. The Latvian had to be substituted by Yannick Zehnder (3rd) shortly after conceding the first goal and thus involuntarily made Louis Kurt’s National League debut possible. The only 18-year-old put up a good fight, but had to be defeated twice by Grégory Hofmann (10th/19th) in the first period. A combative Langnau came back in the middle third, but at the latest after Hofmann’s 3rd goal (56th) to make it 2:5, the 11th defeat in a row was sealed. Because the NHL returnee scored a 4th time 28 seconds before the end, he already has 5 goals after 3 games on Swiss ice.
Geneva-Servette – Biel 3: 2 a.e.t
What a final phase in Geneva! Biel was leading 2-1 in an entertaining game against Servette until one minute before the end, but then the hosts ignited a final furioso. Daniel Winnik was able to equalize on the power play one minute before the end and thus forced overtime. There, Sami Vatanen scored the much-celebrated victory after around three and a half minutes. The Geneva team took the lead in the first third through Arnaud Riat, which resulted in a veritable rain of stuffed animals. The spectators threw tons of cuddly toys onto the ice for a good cause. The visitors then took control and equalized with a slapshot from Toni Rajala. Damien Brunner, who completed a dream combination over several stations to make it 2-1, was responsible for the supposed highlight shortly before the second half-time siren. As is well known, the Geneva reaction was late, but all the more violent.
Ambri – Davos 3:2
Ambri-Piotta was rewarded for a passionate performance with a narrow 3:2 home win against Davos. Dario Bürgler was responsible for the decision with a wonderful backhand goal about 7 minutes before the end. Before that, the Leventine had taken the lead twice through Inti Pestoni and Steve Moses, but HCD was able to react in each case. Matej Stransky scored twice and, together with the strong goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann, ensured that the Grisons stayed in the game. In the end, however, the team from Davos were more prone to errors in an intense game.
