5 exceptional aids up to 600 euros that you may benefit from

Rise in electricity and gas prices in January and next February, skyrocketing fuel and wood prices and rebates on the liter of fuel which is coming to an end, the share of household budgets devoted to energy bills will continue to increase. increase in the coming weeks. To cope with this, there are many aids available. We explain to you.

1-The exceptional energy check

To counter the rise in household energy expenditure, the government has rolled out an exceptional energy check which supplements the traditional check for a maximum value of 277 eurossent each spring to nearly 6 million households.

By the end of December, 12 million households will receive, without any formalities, an exceptional check for minimum of 100 euros for a couple of two children with 3000euros of net income for example. This boost, valid for one year, can even reach 200 euros, for example, for a single mother earning the minimum wage and having two dependent children.

In December 2021, already, the government had sent an exceptional check of 100 euros to the 5.8 million regular recipients of energy checks to deal with soaring energy prices. In June 2022, only three out of four households have used it, but it remains valid until March 2023.

2-The energy check upgraded?

The consumer association CLCV judges the amount of the energy check too low and proposes to triple it in 2023 with a maximum amount of 600 euros! Many consumers have to choose: eat or heat up, explains the CLCV. For people with incomes below 2000 euros per month, some devote 60% of their budget to essential expenses (housing, transport, energy), and can no longer support the 15% to 20% inflation on food.

The classic energy check is an aid that varies from 48 euros to 277 euros, depending on your reference tax income and the composition of your household.. Only 66.6% of beneficiaries had used their 2022 check in August. If you are one of those who have not yet spent their energy check, you have until March 31 to do so.

3-An energy check for social housing tenants

Action Logement offers a maximum aid of 600 euros to tenants of social housing in order to help households in financial difficulty caused by the increase in the cost of energy. The organization estimates that this bonus could be granted to 75,000 households out of the 10 million tenants in the HLM sector.

To benefit from it, you must be a tenant, salaried or unsalaried, of social housing, have a increase in charges of more than 100 euros per month or face a regularization of charges of more than 1000 euros over the last 12 months. Finally, the rest to live on per person and per day must be less than 15 euros.

Individuals eligible for assistance can contact their social landlord to compile the file. This service will be operational from 12 December.

4-One fuel oil

Since November 8, the government has started paying a check of between 100 and 200 euros to households that heat with oil. It is intended, subject to income conditions, for 1.4 million households. No action is taken if you have taken advantage of the 2022 energy check to pay a fuel bill.

If you are not in this case, you will then have to check your eligibility on the site chequeenergie.gouv.fr. If you are entitled to it, you will receive the check less than a month after sending a fuel bill.

Note that this fuel oil energy check can be combined not only with the exceptional energy check of 100,200 euros scheduled for the end of the year but also with the usual energy check towards each year in the spring.

5-One each wood

Households that heat with wood are not left out. Financial aid in the amount of 200 euros will be allocated to them because no one would understand that we help those who heat themselves with fossil fuels and not those with wood, declared Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

Wood has seen its prices skyrocket and sometimes finding it is an obstacle course. According to a study by Heliotherma magazine, the price per stre (1 cubic meter) of wood has increased by 25%. As for wood pellets, prices have risen by 80% according to the amendment which establishes this aid for wood heating. The text was voted on by MEPs as part of the draft amending budget for 2022 on Tuesday 8 November. The practical terms of this aid are currently being defined.

Reduction of the rebate on fuels

From this Wednesday, the discount of 30 centimes proposed by the State on the liter of fuel will drop to only 10 centimes. On the same day, the discount provided at Total stations will decrease from 20 to 10 cents. This aid will disappear completely at the end of the year to give way to a device more targeted towards hard workers whose contours are not known.

An alternative? Superethanol-E85 whose price per liter is around 80 cents. According to a study by the Collective of Biothanol, 73% of motorists who drive E85 estimate more than 600 euros per year their savings on their fuel budget.
