50 new jobs – Mayr-Melnhof is investing 150 million in new plant

150 million euros – that is a clear commitment to Styria as a business location for Mayr-Melnhof Holz. “Leoben is in the middle of the forest, the raw material supply here is good,” says CEO Richard Stralz. The investment is possible because the economy is now really picking up after a brief slump during the initial lockdown. “Wood is popular,” says Stralz. The building material is currently experiencing a renaissance. And it offers a number of advantages that have been recognized as essential for the future. “Cross laminated timber is part of the solution to the climate problem,” Stralz is convinced. “One cubic meter of wood binds a whole ton of CO2.”
