The British are preparing to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. If some will try to catch a glimpse of the monarch during his journey between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, others plan not to miss a second of the event. In the pubs, we are preparing for a record day.

British pubs are expecting a record day. A few hours before the coronation of King Charles III, which will begin at noon French time, many will try to catch a glimpse of the members of the royal family between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. But some Britons will opt for another strategy and they will follow this historic day in front of the TV in a bar, almost like a football match.

So, in London, we compete with ideas to attract customers. Dance pub in Trafalgar Square, a large poster is placed on the door, inviting customers to come and experience the coronation over a few pints of beer.

A unique beer

For the occasion Louise, the owner, has restocked a beer specially brewed for the occasion. “It’s a beer brewed in Dorset. It’s our specific beer and it’s delicious. It’s named for the king and we sell it especially for the coronation,” she explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

“In total, we have placed three televisions and we can’t wait for customers to come and share their experience with us and to rejoice in this coronation ceremony”, continues the boss.

A party that will continue until very late at night

No doubt, this traditional London pub will be crowded this afternoon and we will raise glasses to the health of the crowned king without missing anything from the ceremony, unlike those who will be gathered on the course, assures Louise. “Because if you’re on the course you don’t see anything of the ceremony. And what we saw at Elizabeth’s jubilee and at her funeral is that people enjoy coming together and celebrating. exchange between them if they cannot see the ceremony directly”, she judges.

And for the occasion, English pubs have obtained exceptional authorization to extend their opening hours. Something to celebrate the coronation until very late in the evening.
