/ Culture / TV / Coronavirus: We take stock of the suspended shootings of our favorite series

If the film industry is alert to coronavirus, the same is true for television. Many series are impacted.

Movie theaters are closed until further notice and culture takes a hit. Movie buffs will no longer be able to make a Canvas until further notice. If some are happy to be able to count on their Netflix, Amazon Prime and other accounts, what must also be remembered is that this pandemic has a considerable impact on the future of many series. Indeed, certain shootings had to be suspended in view of the risks presented by the COD-19. And who says suspended shootings, says releases of the new seasons of our favorite offbeat series … So we will have to arm ourselves a little more patience to review our series characters.

Grey's Anatomy

On March 12, we learned that the filming of season 16 of Grey's Anatomy was suspended because of the coronavirus. The interruption of filming will last at least two weeks, according to a production press release: "For the sake of caution, the production of Grey's Anatomy is postponed with immediate effect. We are now going home for at least two weeks and are waiting to see how the coronavirus situation evolves " This interruption was made during the filming of episode 21 of season 16.

Lucifer

Lucifer also could not cope with the coronavirus. Warner has announced that production for season 6 of the series has been suspended while the crews are in the middle of filming. The Netflix platform was just negotiating for a possible sequel to Lucifer who, however, announced season 6 as the last. For the moment, we just know that the shooting is suspended "until further notice". Patience and vigilance are now the watchwords of series production.

Stranger things

Netflix hasn't finished taking a hit on the production side. One of the flagship series of the streaming platform had to stop shooting as well. Season 4 of Stranger things is interrupted for at least two weeks, depending on Deadline. Many social media users have shared their sadness on social media when they learned that filming was suspended for security reasons. We could notably read on Twitter: "Shooting of Stranger Things 4 suspended because of the coronavirus when I actually die?" Because what must also be remembered is that the suspension of production could, therefore, postpone the date of broadcast of the series on Netflix.

Riverdale

Season 4 of Riverdale is also on hold due to the pandemic. Warner TV Bros. recently announced this by explaining its fear that a member of the team may have been in contact with someone carrying the virus. In a press release, the production explains: "We are working with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have been in direct contact with him. The health and safety of our employees, our castings and our teams is always our priority ( …) The shooting of Riverdale is suspended as a precaution. " The team for season 4 was filming in Vancouver, Canada.
