Gastro satisfied – rush for free test dates since openings

It came on Wednesday, the great day of openings in Upper Austria! 73,000 compatriots took a test to collect their “ticket to freedom”. Even at the weekend, many appointments are already booked, and seats are reserved with the host. Surprisingly, the delivery service is also still being used extensively.

The queues in front of the test streets were enormous on Wednesday: 46,000 Upper Austrians picked up their “ticket to freedom” there and 27,000 compatriots also used the new self-test at home. For the next three days, 23,500 test appointments are already gone in Upper Austria. And the restaurateurs are also feeling this onslaught: “Every innkeeper was excited before that day, but everything worked really well. The restaurants were well filled all over the country, a little more in the city than in the country. There are already numerous reservations for the weekend, ”summarizes the landlord’s spokesman Thomas Mayr-Stockinger. What surprised him: “Despite the opening, people also continued to use the delivery service extremely well.” Postscript: “Now we only hope that things will be relaxed soon, especially the curfew at 10 p.m.”

And this curfew was well respected on the first day of the openings, according to police spokesman Michael Babl across the country. There was only one restaurant in Steyr where the party continued with loud music until 10:35 p.m. until the police stood at the door – a total of twelve people were reported. “We are more than satisfied, the first opening day and the night went smoothly,” said Babl. There are currently no increased controls by the police; action is only taken when reports are made.
