He grumbles, scolds and rages – but it’s no use. His restaurant Walliserkanne is closed. The reason: the operator repeatedly violated the law and did not adhere to the corona protective measures.
And so the Valais health department pulled the rip cord.
The restaurant will be cleared for the first time on Friday morning, closed and given a seal. “This decision was implemented in the morning by the Zermatt regional police. The guests who were still in the restaurant were asked to leave, ”says Matthias Volken from the Valais cantonal police to Blick. The landlord had resisted it, but the decision was carried out nonetheless.
In the meantime, a video of the mission is circulating on the Internet. The recordings show: The Corona skeptic does not take the closure seriously. “Hop off,” he sounds in the video. He describes the police officers as “witches”. And announces: “I’m not closing here because you have no legal basis for this. No sanction without breaking the law. ” In the end, he even threatens to arm himself with it.

The landlord opened again in the evening
This is one of the reasons why the police went to Walliserkanne again in the evening. To check whether the Corona skeptic is sticking to the law this time. Nothing! Guests are sitting in the restaurant again. No sign of closure.
So the restaurant is cleared again. And this time provided with concrete blocks from the entrance. “This structural measure was decided and implemented together with the community because the sealing was not respected,” explains the Kapo spokesman. The police cannot simply collect the key to the restaurant. “The building is a complex with apartments above the restaurant,” says Volken.
The police will now continue to regularly check whether the landlord is finally keeping to the closure. How things will go on for the Walliserkanne is unclear. The case is now with the prosecutor, as the police continue to report. (jmh)
