The motive was jealousy – attempted murder of family OLG confirmed 15 years imprisonment

A man from the Innviertel who tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her two children in July 2020 has been imprisoned for 15 years. The higher regional court (OLG) Linz confirmed the sentence of the regional court in Ried on Monday. The 21-year-old at the time of the crime had been convicted of triple attempted murder and serious assault.

Both the accused and the public prosecutor’s office appealed against the verdict. Both appeals were rejected by the higher regional court on Monday. However, insidiousness was added to make the triple attempted murder more difficult. It was insidious that the defendant lured the then five-year-old stepson into the bathtub at night with the promise and promised him to blow bubbles through the toaster.

The motive for the act of the former professional soldier is said to have been jealousy. The man choked his ex-girlfriend until she passed out. Then he put their ten-month-old daughter and his five-year-old stepson in a bathtub filled with water and threw an infected toaster into it. But when the circuit breaker fell, he gave up. However, he opened two gas cartridges. Because the baby cried so loudly, the mother woke up and prevented anything from happening.
