While it is more than likely that Xiaomi’s 12 series will have many more products, at the moment it only has two smartphones. The Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X, formalized today in China, will inaugurate a new series of terminals in Europe next year, and are currently reserved for their national market.

Xiaomi 12 Pro: three 50-megapixel sensors, 120 W load and an LTPO screen

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is of course the most advanced of the trio. This rather classic-looking smartphone has a 6.73-inch curved Amoled screen displaying 3200 x 1440 pixels and benefiting from LTPO technology: its refresh rate of 120 Hz is therefore adaptive. It is further protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus. Under its hood, we find the latest chip from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform flanked by 8 to 12 GB of RAM, while 128 to 256 GB of storage is included. The whole is supported by a 4600 mAh battery which inherits in passing the fast charging to 120 W experienced on the Xiaomi 11T Pro. It also charges wirelessly at 50 W.

The crucial aspect of photography is served by three modules. All are based on 50 megapixel sensors signed Sony. The first (IMX707) is a wide-angle aperture f / 1.9 (24mm equivalent), the second a 48mm equivalent lens (2x zoom, f / 1.9) and the third an ultra wide-angle ( f / 2.2). The smartphone can shoot in 8K at 24 fps and, within the radius of the selfie, relies on a 32 megapixel sensor. To accommodate these elements, Xiaomi offers a 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.16 mm smartphone for 205 grams, which of course runs under MIUI 13, the latest software version of its home interface.

Xiaomi 12: a less ambitious photo component and a slower charge

Xiaomi 12

The Xiaomi 12 looks like the 12 Pro, except that it is smaller. It must be said that its screen diagonal increases to 6.28 inches. Its 2400 x 1080 pixel Amoled display is not LTPO, and therefore offers variable refreshment up to 120 Hz. Also under Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it makes some compromises in terms of battery (4500 mAh, with wired charging at 67 W and 50 W wireless) and photography. Its main module of 50 megapixels is this time an IMX766 (optical f / 1.88), and its two other sensors display 13 megapixels for the ultra wide-angle, and 5 megapixels for the third, reserved for the macro. However, it also allows you to film in 8K.

A “Lite” version called Xiaomi 12X

Finally, the last model of this first wave of Xiaomi 12 takes the name of Xiaomi 12X. Identical in every way to the Xiaomi 12, it stands out with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip, a little less upscale, but also by the disappearance of wireless charging. It therefore allows it to constitute not a compact version of the smartphone, but a discreetly light version. Its price suffers: it is offered from 3199 yuan (445 € excluding taxes), when the starting price of the Xiaomi 12 is set at 3699 yuan (around 515 € HT) and that of the Xiaomi 12 Pro at 4699 yuan. (650 € HT). They will be available in China from December 31, and the brand should detail their international release in the coming weeks.
