Eliminated from the Roland-Garros tournament a few days ago, Alizé Cornet confided in the columns of France Sunday this Friday, June 3. The tennis player notably returned to the novel she wrote in tribute to the women of her family and the difficulties that her loved ones had to go through.
A family story. Better known for her talents as a sportswoman than those of an author, the tenniswoman Alize Cornet yet comes from Publish his first novel published by Flammarion. Entitled The Waltz of Daysthe 32-year-old young woman wanted to write this book for pay tribute to three women dear to his heart : his mother, his grandmother and his aunt. For her, this book represents a great personal project, as she explained to our colleagues ed France Sunday, this Friday, June 3. “By hearing my mom tell me anecdotes about her family, I thought to myself that her life had everything you ask for in a novel: twists and turns, emotion, love.… and I wanted to give him this novel as a Christmas present”said the best French tennis player.
During the interview, Alizé Cornet also indicated that the story of her novel told has both fictional and real elements. “The plot is almost real. What they went through, such as my grandfather’s alcoholism, domestic violence and Jeanne’s departure from the preventorium, are faithful. But many passages are fictional. I didn’t want to testify.”explained the sportswoman, who added that this book allowed her to deliver everything she had on her heart: “If I don’t write down what’s wrong in my life, I can’t get rid of it. My notebooks are a way for me to be well”.
Alizé Cornet hurt by the attitude of the public after her elimination at Roland Garros
The release of this book is also a good way for Alizé Cornet to clear his mind after his difficult elimination during Roland Garros tournament. The one who is ranked 40th in the world was indeed beaten by the Chinese Qinwen Zheng during the third round of the Open de France this Saturday, May 28. But the Niçoise could not finish the match. Indeed, in the middle of the second set, she had to give up, victim of too intense pain due to a muscle tear contracted in the adductor during her previous match. The French player also had to face the public whistles present in the stands of the center court. An attitude that extremely pained Alizé Cornet. “Frankly it’s abused, with everything I’ve been giving on the pitch for all these years. It would have been easier for me not to enter the court, not to make myself vulnerable. It’s unfair, and injustice hurts”, she thus confided in a press conference, at the end of her match.
