Huawei is also able to integrate premium services into a laptop. With its Matebook 16S, the manufacturer responds to Apple’s Macbook Pro.
At the end of April, we published our review of the Huawei MateBook 16. Two months later, the brand launched a new version of its high-end laptop, simply called Matebook 16S.
An Intel CPU of 12e generation
This model has the distinction of being equipped with an Intel processor, while its predecessor had an AMD configuration. The user can choose between an i7-12700H or an i9-12900H CPU, but the latter will be available a little later, during the month of September.
The machine is equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of M.2 NVMe storage. The connection consists of two USB-C ports (including a Thunderbolt 4), two USB-A ports (3.2 Gen 1), an HDMI 2.0 socket and a 3.5 mm jack port for connecting headphones or wired headphones.
The 16-inch IPS LCD screen is surrounded by fine borders and adopts a 3:2 format very well suited to the needs of a professional or a student who will work with his computer. The touch screen displays a definition of 2,520 x 1,680 pixels and benefits, according to Huawei, from better colorimetry.
Webcam and microphone: Huawei adapts to telework
The Huawei Matebook 16S also improves its webcam. Indeed, the rise of teleworking and videoconferencing requires taking care of this aspect. The quality of the camera goes from 720 to 1080p, and the manufacturer indicates that it is possible to modify or blur the background, regardless of the application used. The webcam also has a tracking function that allows you to refocus the subject if it moves.
Audio capture is not left out, with the integration of a noise reduction microphone that allows you to be heard by your interlocutor, even when you are in a noisy environment.
The Huawei Matebook 16S is announced at a price of 1,699 euros in its i7 version and is already available for pre-order, for an official release scheduled for July 12. The model with an i9 CPU will be sold for 1,899 euros.
