More increase needed – “Only helping minimum pensioners is not enough”

“We’re not asking for stars from the sky, but we’re asking for a fair pension increase", confirms Upper Austria Senior Citizens’ Association Chairman Josef Pühringer in the “Krone” interview. So for the small and medium-sized pensions, an increase above the statutory inflation adjustment of 5.8 percent. Namely “noticeably more”, because the cost of living is significantly higher for everyday living expenses.

Pühringer: “Concentrating only on the minimum pensioners cannot work this time!” Because someone who has 1,600 or 1,800 euros, even 2,000 euros gross, is “not a heavy earner” and is “currently struggling enormously with this inflation”. .ÖVP State Secretary Claudia Plakolm, who defends Pühringer – as reported – against attacks on the pension increase debate – sees it similarly. Regarding the “OÖ-Krone” she says: “A clear yes to compensate for the rise in prices for small and medium-sized pensions of more than 5.8 percent. A clear no to fattening up maximum pensions of 5000 euros and above the legally stipulated 5.8 percent.
