Filming of the "Game of Thrones" prequel will begin in April

Two years after the final season "Game of Thrones", the shooting of the prequel "House of the Dragon" is to begin.
Exciting news for "Game of Thrones" fans: As HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys revealed in a Q&A on Wednesday, filming for the prequel series "House of the Dragon" will begin this spring. "You are preparing," explained Bloys. "Shooting will start in April." The drafts for all ten episodes of the first season should already be in place.
"House of the Dragon": That is already certain
The screenplay for "House of the Dragon," based on George R.R. Martin's (72) book "Fire and Blood" was written by Ryan Condal and Michael Sapochnik. Set 300 years before the original series, the prequel will tell the story of Daenerys' ancestors when the historic downfall of House Targaryen began.
Some of the actors have already been determined: The cast includes Matt Smith (38, "Doctor Who") as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Paddy Considine (47, "The Outsider") as King Viserys, Olivia Cooke (27, "Bates Motel") ) as Alicent Hightower and Emma D'Arcy (28, "Truth Seekers") as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Casey Bloys also confirmed that the series is scheduled to be released in 2022.
