Telethon 2022: seriously ill, Henri Sannier confides

Un long fight. Henri Sannier has been through a painful ordeal for more than two years, the victim of both a serious cycling accident and a neuropathic disease. The ex-journalist of France 3, presenter in particular of all sportsstuck in a wheelchair for months, was finally able to walk again as he confided during the 2022 Telethon, broadcast on France 2 Friday December 2 and relayed by TVMag.

“At over 70, I had never been sick in my life and I caught an autoimmune disease,” he explained. In December 2020, he was hit head-on by a car in the Bay of Somme, while he was mountain biking with his wife. He escaped with bruises, a protruding ear, before his fingers and legs were gradually paralyzed, preventing him from writing or walking. Evils which would be explained by a virus, contracted following his accident.

“I walk again! »

“We find ourselves lying down, we no longer walk for a year and a half to two years. I managed to resume, you had to be strong in the head and I was helped by a lot of people, ”he confided, moved. For this great sportsman, the blow is hard. He continued his rehabilitation in Abbeville and practiced the exercise bike to strengthen his legs. After months of rehabilitation, the results are there. “Now I’m walking again! And I’m only waiting for one thing, which is to be able to ride a bike again, ”he said. The former commentator of the Tour de France thus wishes to be next year on the starting line of the Ronde picarde, a cyclosportive race which takes place in the Somme.
