In the Flachgau – thieves were targeting catalytic converters

Between January 21 and 24, unknown persons broke into a car park in Flachgau and stole the catalytic converters from five cars. Meanwhile, officials were able to clarify another burglary in St. Johann.

The strangers used tools to gain access to the car park in Flachgau. The fence was found cut open and bent over. The perpetrators were after catalytic converters. To do this, they cut open five cars, presumably with a wire saw. The extent of the damage is not yet known. The police were able to clarify a burglary in St. Johann im Pongau. On January 21, shortly before 11 p.m., a perpetrator broke into the sales room of a shop. The perpetrator triggered the burglar alarm, but was able to escape before the police arrived. His prey: a chainsaw. Through video recordings and investigations, the police were able to find out that a Pinzgauer must have stolen the chainsaw. Officials found the stolen goods in the suspect’s parents’ house. The 38-year-old has confessed and is now being reported.
