A one-year-old child was abandoned at the RER station in Juvisy-sur-Orge on Friday, October 22 at the end of the afternoon. The national police of Essonne is launching a call for witnesses to find the mother of the family or any person likely to bring elements.
The scene seems almost unreal and yet it went well near us. Friday, October 22, between 5 p.m. and 5.30 p.m., a child of about one year old was abandoned and found alone, in a stroller, on the platform of the RER station, in Juvisy-sur-Orge in Essonne (91).
A woman who was in the RER C from Versailles asked a traveler for help to pick up her baby while she got off the stroller from the train to Juvisy. But once on the platform, the woman, believed to be the child’s mother, quickly climbed back into the wagon just before the doors closed, leaving the toddler alone in the individual’s arms. The train immediately left in the other direction, direction the terminus of Versailles Rive Gauche station.
This unusual story is not the first. In 2020, in Gironde, a nine-month-old baby was also abandoned alone in his pram, in the middle of the street, with no one around him.

Police are looking for the woman and witnesses
Since the events, no one has come to claim the child from the authorities. The national police of Essonne therefore launched a call for witnesses Monday, October 25 to hope to find the family of the toddler.
“Juvisy investigators are calling for witnesses to find the mother or any person likely to bring elements”, communicated with 91 police on Twitter on October 25.

The wanted woman is of African type, fair skin, short hair and black (probably a wig according to the investigators), she has a normal build and measures approximately 1 meter 65. At the time of the facts, she was wearing a black cap, black jogging pants. and white with small patterns, as well as camel shoes with flowers on top, and gold earrings.

Sanctions for child abandonment
According to Penal Code, abandonment of a child is a crime. A person who deliberately abandons a child, without a valid reason, risks up to 2 years of imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 euros.
