a big patch with excellent surprises

It’s the big day, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is welcoming its first DLC today. It did not come alone, since its release is accompanied by a big patch which will undoubtedly please.

Owners of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have brought out the champagne: it is September 13, the date of the release of the first DLC “The Turquoise Mask” of the extension The Buried Treasure of Zone Zero. The time has come to venture into the lands of Septentria, but before that, you will have to download update 2.0.1. And this contains its share of good news.

Patch Notes 2.0.1 for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

This new patch is already more substantial than that of May or June. As a reminder, these only concerned tournaments. First of all, those who did not purchase the DLC were not left behind. Certainly, they will not have access to the new Pokemon in the expansion. However, they will still be able to obtain additional monsters via local or online communication methods. In addition to this nice gift, it is now possible to adjust the camera as you wish, or to lock the mini-map that appears when you are in the field. Generally speaking, the gaming experience has been made more pleasant and ergonomic. Here is the rest of the list:

  • Added a feature that allows you to signal a Pokemon accompanying you on the field to stop and wait where it is. To give this signal, press the left stick.
  • You will be able to take photos by pressing the A key in the Camera application.
  • It is now possible to listen to music by pressing the ZL or ZR key when the camera application is open. You will surely notice that the Pokemon that accompany you on the field and that the people around you react to the music.
  • When using Club Union, trainers can now share photos they took with the Camera app during that Club Union session with the friends they play with.
  • We’ve added a feature to CT Machines that allows you to filter the abilities your Pokemon can learn.

Obviously, an update means fixes and small adjustments made here and there. This time, there are not many of them and we let you discover them below.

  • Incorrect descriptive text for the Blade Waves, Doom Claws, and Stone Ax abilities has been fixed. Descriptions of these abilities previously included the words “aimed at dealing a critical hit”, but these abilities do not increase the critical hit rate in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Purple. This wording has been removed from these descriptions.
  • We fixed a bug where the Pickup Badge is not applied to a Pokemon even if the conditions are met.
  • Wild Pokemon that have the Dominant Badge now reappear on the field after a certain amount of time if they are defeated.
  • We’ve made adjustments to how Pokemon icons are displayed in boxes.

The rest will have to wait

Players will therefore finally be able to brave the dangers of this Volume 1, like the new Pokemon Poltchageist. You will then have to wait for Volume 2, “The Indigo Disc”, before returning to Septentria. It will be released next winter and its content promises to be massive. In total, we will visit 4 artificial zones: the fiery Savanna Zone, the lush Coastal Zone, the harsh Canyon Zone and the frigid Polar Zone. These places will be inhabited by a host of new Pokemon. Ideal for trainers who want to update their busy Pokédex.
