a bombed maternity, President Volodymyr Zelinski denounces “an atrocity”

For several days now, the Ukrainian president has been asking NATO to take exemplary measures against Russia to put an end to the war which is destroying his country. After two weeks of fighting, Volodymyr Zelinski feels “alone” against Vladimir Putin. It was on February 24 that Russian forces invaded Ukraine, first bombarding the capital Kiev.

The first strike took place in the early morning, at 5:05 a.m. Since then, the Ukrainian people have been under constant attack from the Russians. This Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Volodymyr Zelinski posted a video on Twitter to announce that Vladimir Putin’s army had bombed a maternity hospital in Mariupol. He describes an “atrocity” and continues: “People and children are under the rubble.” An announcement that freezes the blood.

At the start of the conflict, President Vladimir Putin announced that he was not targeting civilians and that he would allow the population to evacuate to safe places. The Ukrainian president wants NATO to react and quickly: “How much longer will the world be an ignorant accomplice to terror? Close the sky now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to lose your humanity.”

Ukrainians are fighting with rage

Faced with the Russian invasion, the Ukrainians do not give up. While most of the women and children tried to flee to Europe, some courageous ones remained to fight alongside the country’s men. This is the case, for example, of Miss Ukraine 2015. Indeed, the very beautiful Anastasiia Lenna, 31, left her crown in the closet to take up arms. She posted many photos of herself on Instagram, weapon in hand on the forehead. She defends her country at all costs against the invader.

On the fourteenth day of war, it was difficult to know how many men had died in combat. Indeed, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense indicates that 12,000 Russian soldiers were killed when the Kremlin indicates that 500 men died and 1,600 wounded. The Russian army has sent 150,000 soldiers into battle. A fight that makes more victims and orphans every day. The situation is tragic and a ceasefire does not seem possible.
