During a press conference organized at the start of the evening, this Thursday, January 20, the Prime Minister, Jean Castex announced that the booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 would be open to all adolescents aged 12 to 17, from the beginning of next week. It will be done from next Monday and without obligation. So far, only children and adolescents in this age group most at risk could receive this additional injection.
“As many countries around us have done, I am announcing that we are going to extend this possibility of a booster vaccine for all, but without obligation, starting next Monday”, explained the Prime Minister, alongside the Minister of Health and Solidarity.
Whereas “the health situation is starting to evolve favorably”, the government wishes to pursue the strategy of “to go to the French” to improve the country’s vaccination coverage.
Vaccination or health pass?
From Monday, the vaccination pass will be required from the age of 16, the age from which parental authorization is no longer required. Persons between the ages of 16 and 17 then have the possibility of carrying out their booster dose without obligation. But do not panic, even if it is not carried out in the coming weeks, their vaccination pass remains valid for access to leisure activities, restaurants and drinking establishments, trade fairs, seminars and trade shows and interregional public transport (planes , trains, coaches, etc.).
For the youngest aged between 12 and 15, they will remain subject to the presentation of a health and non-vaccination pass. Indeed, not having the “vaccination freedom” because of their young age, they cannot be vaccinated without parental authorization.
