A cult film by Pedro Almodóvar becomes an Apple series with the star of Jane the Virgin

Apple is currently developing a series based on Pedro Almodóvar’s film, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, with the Jane the Virgin star in the lead role.

The feature film that allowed Pedro Almodwherevar to make a name for itself beyond the Spanish borders at the end of the 80s, Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, could soon be rejuvenated on the small screen.

the HollywoodReporter has indeed revealed that Apple is developing a series adapted from this black comedy which earned the famous filmmaker his first Oscar nomination. The latter is also involved in the project as an executive producer.

This is also the case of actress Gina Rodriguez who will also hold the main role of the series, that of the dubbing actress in full love disorder who was played by Carmen Maura on the big screen. Rodriguez became known to the public thanks to the series Jane the Virgin in which she held the title role for 5 seasons.

According to US media sources, the project, which is still in its infancy, should be filmed in a mixture of English and Spanish. Noelle Valdivia (Masters Of Sex, Kevin Can F**k Himself) will be in charge of writing the screenplay for the adaptation.
