The 2024 energy check is about to be sent to nearly 6 million households. And a million of them will benefit from a new way to use their energy check. Are you concerned?
The start of the 2024 energy check is coming soon. This aid, paid under means conditions each year to 5.6 million households, will be distributed by mail in bursts between April 2 and May 15 depending on your department of residence. As in previous years, the amount of the check will be between 48 and 277 euros, depending on the composition of the household and its income.

But something new is coming into force this year: tenants of HLMs eligible for the energy check will now be able to use it to pay their heating charges.
An aberration corrects
This novelty is provided for by article 231 of the finance law for 2024. The government added an amendment to its text following the intervention of communist deputy Fabien Roussel. It was then an aberration that a million HLM households could use the energy check to pay for their electricity but not for their heating costs.
From this year therefore, the energy check can make it possible to pay the charges in social rental housing.
