Enedis’ little green meter, aptly named Linky, had problems with a citizen in Charente-Maritime, who for several years paid for a device that did not work normally.
As you will see, the story of this lady who had a malfunctioning Linky meter installed in her home has a happy ending, even if the bug in question cost her dearly! For several years, she saw her electricity bills rise (while others artificially lowered them), without Enedis really reacting to put an end to her worries, until this year, when she finally received the good news.
A defective Linky meter, but a consumer who continues to pay more than she should
So what happened to this consumer? The story is simple: in 2017, Enedis came to install a Linky meter at its home, in Charente-Maritime. And that’s where the problems begin, since from then on, she noticed a fairly sudden increase in her electricity bills. However, his habits do not change, as far as we know.
Is Linky responsible? To ensure this, the lady asks the Enedis manager to check the installation, and the latter therefore sends her a technician. There, surprise, the professional realizes that indeed, the meter has a problem!
The technician notes that Linky continues to display consumption, even though the circuit breaker is off. Enedis therefore replaces the meter considered defective and promises to reimburse the overpayment to be returned to the user. And things are not getting better.
Finally, she recovers her dues as well as a small compensation
The consumer waits, then multiplies reminders, but she still does not receive her dues and continues to pay. In November 2022, she moved up a gear by asking for help from the local association in her department, which came to her aid.
Finally, only a few months later, she received a payment of 4,320 euros, which corresponds to the amounts paid due to the bug in her previous Linky meter.
In addition to recovering his money, Enedis pays him 300 euros as compensation. A lesser evil, right? In the meantime, a little further east on the map of France, 200,000 selected and voluntary households will soon receive a small compensation of 10 euros, to carry out an experiment aimed at anticipating possible periods of tension on the French electricity network.
