Friday July 1, a wedding celebrated in Villeurbanne (Rhône) was interrupted by the town hall following major overflows. Some guests could be sued.

The best day of their lives quickly turned into a true nightmare. This Friday, July 1, a wedding was celebrated in Villeurbanne, a town located near Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Nothing unusual until celebrations escalate. Concerned residents have effectively reported to the municipality significant disturbances and several overflows committed by guests at the venue of the event, said BFM TV.

As a press release from the city of Villeurbanne revealed, a motorcade procession has indeed blocked the streetsin particular access to the ring road at Porte de Croix-Luizet, and their drivers have constantly honk and rev their engine. Next to that, the explosive sound of several mortar fireworks didn’t help it din visibly deafening for the inhabitants. So much so that the municipal elected official present on the spot was obliged to interrupt the ceremony for more than an hour.

Legal action is being considered

Once the procession arrived on site, the chosen one initially refused to celebrate the marriage and asked all guests to leave the premises and disperse. He finally agreed to continue the ceremony an hour and a half later, “with a limited number of guests of 10 people per family”, explained the municipality in its press release. If the festivities were able to take place, the town hall does not intend to stop there. “These celebrations cannot take place to the detriment of security and public tranquility”can we read. “It turns out that many offenses have indeed been committed […] All those who have been identified, in particular through video surveillance, will be prosecuted.concluded the city led by Cédric Van Styvendael (PS).
