a month that is going to be crazy!

2023 continues its momentum and new big video game releases are planned for the month of June. If the month of May was still relatively quiet, mainly driven by Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo’s incredible monster, and the very good Star Wars Jedi Survivor, next month will kick off the summer season with big games and the indie!

For the moment, we don’t know what the Summer Game Fest has in store for us and generally there are always one or two surprises that are announced by making themselves available in stride. But anyway, the month of June is already busy. Perhaps less than the beginning of the year, but we are still on a big month.

Big games and indie for the month of June 2023

For these video game releases in June 2023, we note in particular the arrival of the huge piece of Blizzard, Diablo 4 which, after several test phases, will finally arrive on consoles and PC simultaneously. A first for the license elsewhere. Fighting and sweat lovers can rush to Street Fighter 6. Capcom’s franchise is back in force from the beginning of June. But this new month is especially marked by the brand new numbered (and unpublished) opus of FF, with Final Fantasy 16. A title that will shake fans at all levels. Of course, these are only the very big highlights of the month, but other titles are expected like the new Crash Bandicoot, F1 2023, Aliens Dark Descent or even the last episode of the Layers of Fear license.

Video game releases of 2023

Yes, the star of June is you

The main releases of the month on consoles and PC

Yes, June will be busy. The list above is not exhaustive, other more timid games will of course be released, not to mention the early access which appear every day on Steam in particular. We don’t talk about it much, but big updates are also expected on several games. Some are at least as expected by players as new games.

A DLC of The Elder Scrolls Online will arrive for example from June 5 on all platforms and already promises many hours of additional play. Besides that, Pokémon Scarlet and Purple players will finally be able to use Pokémon HOME! A simple patch, sure, but the expectation behind the update is huge. By the way, if you think a highlight of the month of June deserves to be highlighted, let us know in the comments!

And you, what are you playing in June 2023?

Street Fighter 6, the great return of the fight

2 June 2023 – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series

After a Street Fighter 5 that will have survived an entire console generation, Capcom is doing it again with street fighter 6. A title that promises to be much more elaborate than its logo borrowed from an image bank. Wishing to grow its franchise, Capcom changes its formula and promises players an experience with small onions. In addition to the traditional arcade and online match modes, SF6 also offers a multiplayer lobby in which we can walk around and a solo mode that allows us to meet different legendary heroes of street fighter and newcomers. The icing on the cake, it is also possible to create your own character and even make real horrors.

Diablo 4, the king of hack’n slash is back!

June 6, 2023 – PC, PS5, Xbox Series (early access possible June 2)

While the release of Diablo 3 is already far, far away and the recent Diablo Immortal is a hit, even if it caused controversy when it was launched, Diablo 4 is preparing to bang its fist on the table this month of June. If the development of the game was not a cakewalk, D4 is there and it arrives shortly before the summer. Blizzard has, it seems, pulled out all the stops by offering a bigger and more generous starter game than its predecessors.

Five classes at launch, an open world full of things to do, an already solid endgame and seasons already ready to follow in the coming months. Diablo 4 promises to satisfy fans and he intends to seduce the curious. We’ll see what’s in his stomach shortly! Note that the game is released simultaneously on consoles and PC, a first for the franchise.

Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, a new DON’T NOD in June!

June 8 on PC – June 22 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch

The fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Use your gift of clairvoyance to see the future and prevent the apocalypse that threatens the balance between your world and that of the gods.
Saving humanity from the apocalypse using almost divine powers, anyone? This is Don’t Nod’s new proposal with Harmony: The Fall of Reverie. A new narrative game that once again surfs on the fantastic but raises the level a notch compared to Life is Strange. Here, it is the fate of the world that is in question, and our playmates are nothing more or less than different gods. harmony promises to be as captivating as it is atypical.

Did you know Don’t Nod was a palindrome?

Layers of Fears, the next Bloober Team before Silent Hill 2 Remake

June 15, 2023 – PC, PS5, Xbox Series

Started a couple of years ago now, the horror franchise of Bloober Team will be entitled to its third and final episode this month of June and will take the opportunity to become a complete work. The studio has indeed announced that the different games are in fact only pieces of the same puzzle whose secrets will be revealed soon. We therefore know absolutely nothing about what this ultimate opus has in store for us, but one thing is certain, the entire franchise will be back in great shape.

The previous games will be reimagined here from A to Z under Unreal Engine 5 and should perhaps even have some surprises in store for us. With Layers of Fears, Bloober Team hopes to shake up fans of horror games by offering something different. We’ll see, but it could be a great publicity stunt for the studio that’s also hard at work on Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Crash Team Rumble is not Crash Bandicoot 5 but the marsupial is there!

June 20, 2023 – PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, One

Well, everyone is waiting for Crash Bandicoot 5, especially since the fourth opus and the previous trilogy of remakes are real successes, but obviously, it is towards the party game that Activision and its studio have turned. Crash Team Rumble is a MOBA-like game where heroes with varying stats will compete in arenas in point-based matches. The objective is to store as many fruits as possible before the time runs out. Many characters from the license will of course be present alongside this good old Crash. The different arenas will all be inspired by environments well known to fans. Wumpa on the cake, free post-launch content is already planned!

Aliens: Dark Descent, killing Xenomorphs with strategy

June 20, 2023 – PC, PS4, PS5, One, Xbox Series

Alien games, there’s a bunch of them now and we’ve almost had them all. Shooter, real-time strategy, survival horror, and even side-scrolling games. Lately, it is with a lackluster Left 4 Dead-like that the license has attempted a new breakthrough in video games. Soon, it is with a tactical game that she will return, we hope, in good shape. Aliens: Dark Descent indeed presents itself as a real-time tactical in which we embody not a Marine, but a squad. Each member will have their own abilities and all will have to survive by completing various missions in terrain conquered by the Xenomorphs. If the game wants to be relatively faithful to the license from which it is inspired, it is already said that creatures from the comics and completely new will be there. Let’s wait and see.

Final Fantasy 16, the June 2023 bomb that plays Game of Thrones

June 22, 2023 – PS5

It’s here, Square Enix’s big game finally arrives in June and is likely to do very, very badly. Final Fantasy 16 intends to shake up the franchise and its fans with an opus that is much darker than usual and whose action orientation is finally fully assumed. Our different grips have already convinced us, FF16 should mark a new turning point for the franchise from a scriptwriting point of view, with a story tortured like a Game Of Thrones.

But also with its very action-oriented gameplay, which is based on a system of combos and powers directly borrowed from summons. Speaking of summons, the famous titanic creatures of the license will also be back and will also benefit from mind-blowing battles with epic staging. If there are still a lot of gray areas concerning, for example, its secondary content, this Final Fantasy 16 smells pretty good.
