The trial of a young man accused of raping a woman while her children were sleeping opened on Wednesday November 10 in the Dordogne. The facts date back to November 2020. The 26-year-old man is accused of breaking into this woman’s home to rape her in La Feuillade, not far from Brive-la-Gaillarde. She had intentionally left the door open so her husband could come home after work, as France Bleu revealed.
Faced with the terrible situation she was living through, the young woman had managed to warn her companion. The latter had neutralized the rapist with baseball bats when he arrived hastily at his home according to information from Sud-Ouest. Since then, the young woman has struggled to rebuild herself after this event. The victim is in psychological distress and often has night terrors. “She blames herself, as if it was her fault that she didn’t close the door”, revealed an expert.

During his trial, the accused admitted the facts with which he was charged and did not try to minimize his act. He also apologized to the victim: “I am ashamed”, he blurted out. According to the psychologists, who spoke during the trial, the victim suffers post-traumatic stress : “She thought her children were going to die”, explained an expert. The trial should continue until Friday and could end with a fairly heavy sentence for the young man. Indeed, he faces up to 15 years of criminal imprisonment.
