A presentation video for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Prince of Shadows

In this video, Square Enix presents the concept of the game in broad terms. A concept obviously inspired at the time by the success of Pokémon, since we play a character engaged in a quest to become the Master of the numerous monsters that populate the different regions of the world of Nadiria. From green valleys to rivers of lava to a desert with mysterious ruins to mountains made entirely of cakes, Nadiria offers what you would expect from a Dragon Quest world.

Psaro, who is none other than the antagonist of Dragon Quest 4, is afflicted with a curse which makes him incapable of inflicting the slightest point of damage on monsters, an ideal profile for launching a career as a monster leader capable of composing an increasingly powerful army thanks to the game’s bestiary, knowing that the monsters will have their own little habits depending on the weather and the seasons.

Arenas are also available to train teams of four monsters in turn. We are then presented with a synthesis feature allowing us to combine two monsters to create a new, stronger creature. Finally, know that Square Enix has confirmed the presence of online battles with ranked games, friendly matches and tournaments involving up to eight participants.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Prince of Shadows will be released on December 1st at a price of 60 euros. Note in passing that the Dragon Quest franchise represents more than 88 million games sold worldwide and that a playable demo is still available on the Nintendo eShop.
