A pro Bitcoin candidate leads the polls in Argentina

Bitcoin president in Argentina? To the picture from the USA where many pro Bitcoin candidates are already doing campaign for 2024, theArgentina is no exception. The Bitcoin subject has become, over the years, a political subject. It must be said that this digital gold is taking an increasingly important place in the electorate of candidates. Would Bitcoin now have its place in the big leagues?

Javier Milei: a pro Bitcoin candidate

Long denigrated and considered a joke, Bitcoin has come a long way since its creation by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. From now on, it is no longer shameful to talk about this invention. More and more presidential candidates even make it their battle horse. Among them are many representatives of the Republican Party in the 2024 elections in the USA, the country in which cryptos have become in recent years a partisan topic.

If in Europe and in France notably, cryptos are still taboo and strongly criticized, this is not the case in many parts of the world. If we know that Asia is making great strides on the subject, this is also the case in South America, and in Argentina more precisely. In the country, presidential elections are scheduled for next October. And naturally, right now, the campaign is in full swing.

Among the candidates is Javier Mileia libertarian party member “La Libertad Advance”, which could be translated as “freedom on the move”. Javier Milei campaigns among other things for the abolition of central banks and speaks rather well of Bitcoin. This digital gold represents for him “the return of money to its original creator, the private sector”.

In a sense, it approximates the ideals of Bitcoin. Javier Milei is indeed fighting for the separation of powers and the removal of government control over the currency.

“The central bank is a scam, a mechanism by which politicians abuse good people through taxes through inflation. »

In Argentina, Bitcoin may well be elected president

However, during the presidential primaries last Sunday, Javier Milei arrived top of the polls with 30.73% voices. He is thus ahead of his opponents, the party “Juntos por el Cambio” (“Together for Change”) and “United for the Fatherland” (“United for the fatherland”). These two parties obtained respectively 28.14 and 26.84% of the votes. The fight is therefore very tight between these different candidates.

However, the most optimistic polls announced Javier Milei in third position, and certainly not higher. Her come out on top is therefore a real surprise. We will still have to curb our ardor. Javier Milei has no plans to make Bitcoin a national currency, but he might not be against its democratization in the country. However, the candidate would rather like priority a redollarization of argentina borrows from an all-consuming hyperinflation.

Given that no candidate exceeded 45% of the votes during this first round, a second will be organized next October with the winners of each of the parties. If again, no one obtains these famous fateful 45%, a last round should be organized in November.

Gradually, Bitcoin loses its qualifiers of monetary joke to become a serious subject. It makes individuals question the real role of money and the abuses to which it is subject. Moreover, politicians are in the process of seizing the subject, whether out of personal conviction or quite simply because the theme now brings together a large part of their electorate.
