A man, who had just committed a robbery at a service station in Seyssinet-Pariset (Isère), died on Friday afternoon from his injuries after being shot by a gendarme, said the prosecution of Grenoble.
The facts took place around 5:00 p.m. in a Total station in the town, after the individual had “shot in the direction of the cashier” with a firearm, said in a press release the public prosecutor Eric Vaillant, confirming a information from the regional daily Le Dauphiné Libéré.
“The gendarmes quickly arrived on the scene and one of them used his weapon, mortally wounding the robber”, added the magistrate who seized “the research section of the gendarmerie on this theft with a weapon and , in parallel, the IGGN (note: the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie) on the use of weapons by the gendarme”.
According to the newspaper, the man, whose age and possible criminal record have not been specified, would have “been transported to the University Hospital in a desperate state” and a “large device” of the gendarmerie would have “locked off the whole neighborhood” . No indication of the weapon he used has been provided.
