A Ryzen 5 7600X processor dominates the Core i9-12900K in single-core

Discreet, the new generation of processors AMD is finally talking about it a few weeks before its launch.

Engineering samples of Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake processors have been in the news lately. However, everything suggests that AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series will be released before.

Up to 4.95 GHz boost

Once is not custom, it is indeed a Ryzen 5 7600X from the future range of AMD that is talking about him today. Again, this is not a final version of said CPU, but an engineering sample that we imagine very close to the final processor.

The Ryzen 5 7600X is expected to be the smallest processor in AMD’s future lineup. The first results of this model have been published on the bases of the Userbenchmark site through tests involving an ASRock N7-B65XT motherboard and 32 GB of G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-5600.

Based on the AM5 platform, the processor features 6 Zen 4 cores running at 4.4 GHz base and capable of a 4.95 GHz turbo. Compared to AMD’s current generation – Ryzen 5 5600X – this sample is already 700 MHz faster in base and 350 MHz faster in turbo.

20% faster than Core i9-12900K

Posted by harukaze5719 on Twitter, the first results of this Ryzen 5 7600X are the occasion for a nice surprise. Indeed, in single threadthe processor is 56% faster than the one it will replace: it obtains 243 points against 156 for the Ryzen 5 5600X.

Even more interesting, it is 20% faster than the fastest processor currently available, the Core i9-12900K, the latter reaching “only” 200 points. The question, of course, is how closely this result relates to the increase in frequency alone.

In multi-threadedthe Ryzen 5 7600X is less at ease, the fault with its limit of 6 hearts / 12 threads. It gets 1,478 points which is still 23% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600X (1,198 points), but also 22% slower than the Core i5-12600K and its 10/16 cores threads (1,884 points).

While AMD hasn’t confirmed anything yet, everything suggests that it is preparing to launch its new Ryzen 7000 / Zen 4 processors from September, a little before Intel’s Raptor Lake.
