Distributed throughout France, this version of the Vendée specialty is notably marketed under the CocciMarket, Auchan, Cora, Match, Intermarché, Système U, Leclerc and Casino brands. The 350g garlic prefou is suspected of being contaminated with Listeria, a bacterium that causes health problems. The batch concerned bears the number 131220017. Below the package barcode is the number 3760114570062. Its use-by date is extended to May 28, 2023. The products concerned by the recall were marketed between May 3 and May 28, 2023. The Rappel Conso website advises consumers not to eat this product, or even to throw it away. They can also bring it back to the store for a refund.

Dangerous disease risks
Consuming this garlic prefu can be dangerous for some people. Indeed, the Listeriaa bacterium suspected of having contaminated it, is the cause of listeriosis. This disease “can be serious and the incubation period can be up to eight weeks”, indicates the site Rappel Conso. People who have eaten the affected product and are suffering from “fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor by informing him of this consumption.” Some people are particularly vulnerable and can develop severe formssuch as pregnant women, immunocompromised people and the elderly.
