A streamer meets two shiny Pokémon at the same time

Streamer MitchOG was quietly playing Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl when he came across two shiny Pokémon, one of the rarest and most unlikely encounters you can imagine.

Hunting for shiny Pokémon is one of the oldest traditions of the most hardcore Pokémon fans. Exploring each region thoroughly to add a chromatic version of each Pokémon to your collection takes a lot of patience and determination. In the end, these shiny hunters always feel an indescribable joy with each new capture which pushes them to always go further.

Streamer MitchOG began his journey on the new Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl remake with the goal of playing only with shiny Pokémon. A challenge which requires in particular to reset its game in order to obtain a shiny starting Pokémon. So far, nothing fancy, except that something fabulous has happened.

Amazing meeting with two shiny

Mitch was then more than three hours away from resetting to begin his adventure when a miracle happened.

After choosing his Tortipouss, the Plant starter of this generation, he then had to face his first wild Pokémon, a Stunned.

Mitch then immediately noticed that the Etourmi in question, which by the way is impossible to capture, was shiny. What to disgust the streamer who exclaimed, “Arf, the piaf! Truly ? Come on man. ” A disappointment that only lasted a second after his own character in turn sends a Tortipouss, also shiny!

Completely caught off guard, Mitch can’t help but shout:“What ?! Hold on. WHAT ! Merry Christmas F ** king! ”

This crazy clip was immediately shared throughout the Pokémon sphere with over 60,000 views in less than a day.

In order to realize a little more of the totally crazy improbability of this shiny double encounter, a viewer had fun doing the math. As Reversalx7 explains on Reddit, “The reason this scenario is absolutely nuts is that it happened in that minute and a half of cutscene. Find a shiny Pokémon (different color + stars) = 1/4096 or 4096 * 4096 = 1 / 16.7 million. ”

So Mitch’s double shiny encounter was well below a one in a million chance. To be more precise, he took advantage of one chance in 16.777 million, enough to drive the Pokémon community completely crazy.

While many streamers continue to expand their collection of shiny, like Jeel and his 4000 attempts for Crefadet, others have on the other hand less scruples and try by all means to reproduce Mitch’s “exploit” in order to benefit from the same attention, even if it means shamelessly cheat.
