‘A Stupid Story’: One of Henry Cavill’s Best Films Has Tarantino Perplexed

Quentin Tarantino never has his tongue in his pocket when it comes to giving his opinion on a film, whether he’s a fan (of a Disney comedy with Lindsay Lohan, for example) or not (he doesn’t dislike, among others, one of the best Stallone). Concerning thriller spy film Very Special Agents – UNCLE Code by Guy Ritchie, the particularity is that the filmmaker loves the first part, but not really the second!

“The first part of this film was really funny, really great”QT said in 2015 during a discussion with writer Bret Easton Ellis. “But the whole second half, I was like, ‘Oh wait a minute, were we supposed to care about the bomb? What is happening here ? I was supposed to care about this stupid story?”

For Tarantino, the story of Very Special Agents – UNCLE Code therefore becomes so bad in its second part that he totally loses it. And the actors, what did he think of them? Here too, the filmmaker is divided. “I find thatHenry Cavill was fantastic but I didn’t like the girl’s performance at all”, releases the filmmaker without restraint. Released in theaters in 2015, Very Special Agents – Code UNCLE immerses the viewer in the early 60s, in the middle of the Cold War. We follow the story of CIA agent Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Kuryakin (Armie Hammer), forced to put aside their ancestral antagonism to engage in a joint mission: to put state of harm an international criminal organization determined, by promoting the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology, to upset the fragile global balance.
