According to dataminers, Icebox will receive a major design overhaul in Episode 4

Icebox has always been a much-discussed map within the VALORANT community. Considered at the start like the worst card in the gameit has experienced a certain revival with the arrival of Viper in the meta, after his buff last year. Since then, she has already known some tweaks to make attacking easier, but much more massive changes should happen. Indeed, dataminers have recently found files following patch 4.02 showing that Icebox sites A and B will soon receive massive improvements.

It is floxaya well-known leaker in the gaming community, who shares on Twitter these first glimpses of changes. On site B, the yellow containerknown to players as Yellow, was problematic because he had created strange angles to hold. To overcome this, he will therefore undergo a rotation in order to limit these angleswith the addition of a new box to create more post-plant situations.

The container in the middle of site Bin which players could move forward and hide, was also causing a lot of trouble, since it created game situations that were far too random. The latter will therefore be closed to solve these problems, but also to guarantee more strategic places to plant the bomb. In the current meta, the bomb is always placed in the same place on siteSage’s wall being far too strong to defend this position.

On site Ait is the boost on Pipes on the attacking side which will be removedleaving only the headglitch on the side of the defenders. The site, which was far too open, will also receive new obstacles behind which players can take shelter. What’s more, the door at A Screensso the one allowing the defenders to enter the site, will also be reduced.

The last big change that was found in the game files by floxay is a modification in the Garageon the side of site B, where the outlet will be placed in the small recess of hand B instead of leading to the same place as the classic path. This change therefore aims to alter the lines that can be taken by the defenderswhich could easily defend the site using only one line. In addition to these major changes, many other small tweaks were also revealedparticularly at the choke points, in order to reduce the large choke points of the map.

Riot recently announced that VALORANT Episode 4 Act 2 would not bring a new agent or new mapbut that the developers were going to take advantage of it to make many quality of life improvements to the game. So maybe that’s when we will see these changes coming to Icebox.
