Acer CG48: a 48-inch OLED monitor

The manufacturer Acer has unveiled its first Oled monitor: the CG48. This model has a 48-inch Oled LG Display panel that can be found on 48-inch Oled televisions such as the LG 48C1, the Philips 48OLED806 or the Panasonic 48TZ1000. However, if the refresh rate is limited to 120Hz on TVs, it can reach 138Hz on the Acer monitor. The CG48 monitor supports Variable Refresh Rate as well as FreeSync Premium Pro. It has an HDMI 2.1 input, perfect for Xbox Series and PS5 consoles, as well as a DisplayPort 1.4 input, more suitable for PC use, in addition to four USB 3.2 ports and a USB-C port.

Like all OLED displays, the CG48 boasts a 0.1ms response time, HDR10 support, 98% color space coverage and infinite contrast thanks to individual pixel brightness control. In terms of ergonomics, it is closer to a TV than a monitor since there is no height, tilt or rotation adjustment. Finally, the only differences with televisions are the higher refresh rate (138 Hz) and the presence of a DisplayPort 1.4 input.

The Acer CG48 monitor will be available in the third quarter of 2022 for a price of around € 2,500, which is twice as expensive as an Oled TV like the LG 48C1 with its 48-inch 120 Hz panel and its FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility.
