This is sad news for all fans of Glee. On Monday July 13, 2020, the body of actress Naya Rivera, who played Santana in the music series, was found in Lake Piru, California. After 5 days of intense research, the chances of finding the 33-year-old actress were slim. Finally the emergency services managed to locate the body, floating on the waters where Naya Rivera had left on Wednesday July 8, 2020 to take a stroll with her 4-year-old son, Josey. The latter, from the actress' relationship with Ryan Dorsey, was asleep on the boat, alone. On Monday July 13, 2020, Sheriff Bill Ayub of Ventura County spoke to the cameras to give details of the day's discoveries.
She sacrificed herself for her son
At first, the sheriff explained that the suicide trail was ruled out. Then, in a second step, he delivered information obtained through the son of Naya Rivera. "We know from his son that he and Naya swam together in the lake during their outing. It was then that her son described being helped by Naya to get back into the boat, which pushed him to get back on deck, " he explained. During a short interrogation, Josey told the investigators the course of his afternoon with his mom. He admitted that he looked back and saw Naya Rivera sink, sink to the bottom of the water. A chilling and heartbreaking tale which reveals that the actress had enough strength to save her son at the risk of his own life … When the rescue team found the little boy, he was wearing a life jacket and was wrapped in a blanket. Sheriff Bill Ayub subsequently announced that a dental examination will be carried out very soon in order to prove 100% that the body recovered is that of Naya Rivera, even if the doubt is slight.
