Racing celebrities in St. Wendel: Timo Bernhard is one of the participants in the German Rally Championship 2021. The two-time Le Mans winner is looking forward to the start of the ADAC Saarland-Palatinate Rally on 20 and August 21.

Dress rehearsal already successfully mastered

Bernhard celebrated a successful dress rehearsal for this year’s trip around St. Wendel at the ADAC-MSC Rallye Zerf at the end of July this year. “The event was great. I really enjoyed the run. I saw what I missed in the past, rally-free time,” said the circuit expert. He successfully completed the test in the run-up to the ADAC Saarland-Palatinate Rally with an overall victory.

With a view to the upcoming second round of the German Rally Championship, Bernhard is full of euphoria: “The anticipation is huge! In the DRM there is an attractive field with some Rally2 vehicles at the start, many younger participants are registered in the small classes Power density at the top will be high and that is good for German rallying. “

After a spectacular start to this year’s DRM season, the entry list for the ADAC Saarland-Palatinate Rally is also top-class. In the top class of the DRM, twelve overall winning Rally2 cars start. Bernhard therefore focuses on a constant form: “We definitely want to get through, show a good performance and certainly also set one or the other highlight. To be at the forefront of the strong competition, we probably lack some driving time. That’s why let’s enjoy this year’s ADAC Saarland-Pfalz rally and would like to be able to say in retrospect that it was two great days, “says the former sports car world champion, classifying his ambitions for the rally.

Bernhard is not the only representative of his family in Saarland, who is represented with their own racing team on the circuit in the ADAC GT Masters, the ADAC GT4 Germany and the Porsche Sports Cup Germany. Father Rüdiger also tackles the special stages around St. Wendel. The German motorsport veteran competes with co-driver Christian Schneider in the Toyota Yaris GR in the NC6 class of the ADAC Rallye Masters.
