En this beginning of the year, everything seems to be smiling in India. With more than 1.4 billion inhabitants, the subcontinent is about to overtake China, which will make it the most populous country on the planet. According to the forecasters of the International Monetary Fund, its growth should be up by 6.1% in 2023. Against 5.2% for the Middle Kingdom and -0.6% for the United Kingdom, its former colonizer.
The icing on the cake: Washington is pushing its multinationals, like Apple or Lockheed Martin, to invest in the lands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who already imagines himself as the arbiter of international relations. In short, at a time when Moscow and Beijing are panicking the West, New Delhi is more popular than ever.
