Adopted fawn – “Sisi follows me everywhere and likes to kiss”

The mother died in a car accident. Since then, Christl Höhenwarter has taken care of the fawn like a loving mother.

When Christl Höhenwarter was called to the neighboring house in the evening of June 16th and looked into the distraught deer eyes, she knew: there was no turning back. The little fawn was only a few days old. Neighbor and hunter Tobias Bacher said that she had just lost her mother in a car accident. Höhenwarter took care of the sweet thing immediately. “Sisi, as I call her, could only stand on solid ground. She cried for her mother for three days,” says the 54-year-old. She quickly slipped into the role of mother. “Fortunately, Sisi accepted the bottle of powdered milk immediately. Every two hours I had to wipe her bum with baby wipes so she could defecate. I looked it up on the internet,” grins the proud foster mom. As thanks there were and still are many kisses. The housebroken fawn spent three months in the house. “Every day around 6:30 p.m. it started beeping. Then Sisi wanted to sleep. I always had to lie down next to it.” There was only a leash on the first nature excursion Today, Sisi is just over five months old and has long since become a faithful companion. “Whether in the forest or in the mountains, Sisi follows every step,” says the Pinzgauer with the big animal heart. Only on the first outing was there a leash around the neck.Neighborhood dog Angel is the friend of the Feinspitz, who likes to “nibble on dandelions, rose heads, grapes, raspberries and blackberries,” says Höhenwarter. How much longer will things be so animalistic in Stuhlfelden? “It’s quite possible that Sisi will say goodbye to the rutting season in summer.” But she would only be released into nature with a collar. Höhenwarter: “The hunters should know that Sisi was raised by hand.”
