According to the police, Alec Baldwin is said to have shot and killed cameraman Halyna Hutchins in a tragic accident. She was only 42 years old. Numerous stars are now saying goodbye to filmmakers online.
On Friday morning, October 22, 2021, international media reported a terrible accident in Santa Fe, New Mexico. On the set of the western film “Rust”, lead actor Alec Baldwin, 63, fired a prop gun. According to the police, there was apparently a misfire of the blank cartridge. She met the 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza, 48. Hutchins succumbed to her injuries a little later in the hospital. A number of actors and filmmakers are now saying goodbye to the 42-year-old on social media.

“My greatest fear is that someone will be fatally injured on my set. I pray that will never happen. I think of all those who have been affected by the tragedy, especially Halyna Hutchins and her family,” wrote the Guardians of the Galaxy ”director James Gunn, 55, on Twitter.
“Pernicious” director James Cullen Bressack, 29, is already drawing conclusions from the tragic incident. “I’ll never use anything other than airsoft and rubber bullets on my sets. That should never have happened. Halyna, you were a gem,” he wrote on Twitter. In Hutchins’ last post on Instagram, he also commented: “I’ll miss you, my friend … I’m devastated.”
Dwayne Johnson: “My love and strength go to your family”
Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 49, also said goodbye on Hutchins’ last Instagram post. “I’m so so sorry. Rest in peace. My love and strength go to your family,” commented the “Jumanji” star.
“Magic Mike” actor Joe Manganiello, 44, worked with Hutchins on the 2020 action flick “Archenemy”. He shared a photo of the camerawoman on Instagram and dedicated touching words to her. “She was an amazing talent and a great person. […] She was a great collaborator and ally for anyone who was in front of the camera. […] It’s a terrible tragedy. My thoughts are with her family and especially with her son, “says the caption.
Shooting suspended for the time being
The shooting of the film has been stopped for the time being. A spokesman for Rust Movies Productions LLC announced this to the industry magazine “Deadline”. The statement reads: “We have stopped the production of the film indefinitely and are fully cooperating with the investigation of the Santa Fe Police Department.” In order to deal with the terrible event, the crew members are provided with pastoral care. How and whether the film will continue is currently not known.
