“Pernicious” director James Cullen Bressack, 29, is already drawing conclusions from the tragic incident. “I’ll never use anything other than airsoft and rubber bullets on my sets. That should never have happened. Halyna, you were a gem,” he wrote on Twitter. In Hutchins’ last post on Instagram, he also commented: “I’ll miss you, my friend … I’m devastated.”

Shooting suspended for the time being

The shooting of the film has been stopped for the time being. A spokesman for Rust Movies Productions LLC announced this to the industry magazine “Deadline”. The statement reads: “We have stopped the production of the film indefinitely and are fully cooperating with the investigation of the Santa Fe Police Department.” In order to deal with the terrible event, the crew members are provided with pastoral care.
