After Dragon Ball, another manga from the same creator will be adapted into an animated film

The manga “Sand Land” by Akira Toriyama (the author of “Dragon Ball”) will be adapted into an animated film!

Already known as the author of the immense Dragon Ball, but also of the hilarious Dr. Slump, Akira Toriyama will see another of his mangas being adapted into an animated film. The Bandai Namco company announces the production of a feature film inspired by the one-shot manga Sand Land, available in one volume from Glénat editions.

In this short series from 2000, we follow the adventures in the distant future of Beelzebub, son of the Demon King, Sheriff Rhao and a third Thief sidekick, on a mission across the desert to find a secret lake and bring water to their kingdom severely affected by drought.

In a press release, the Bandai Namco company announced the development of several projects adapted from Sand Land, including an animated film expected next year in Japan. Other derivatives will also see the light of day in the coming years, the nature of which we do not yet know.

The release in 2023 of the film Sand Land will be an opportunity to discover another facet of the work of the immense mangaka Akira Toriyama, whose Dragon Ball series (and its remastered sequel, Dragon Ball Z Kai) have just integrated the catalog of the specialized DNA platform!
