After his Twitter poll, Elon Musk wants to change the rules of Twitter polls

Elon Musk has taken a poll to find out if he should leave the management of Twitter. After the votes were closed, he said he wanted to only allow Twitter Blue subscribers to vote on such polls.

We said it yesterday: don’t trust Elon Musk’s latest poll on Twitter. The businessman gave a few more reasons to be skeptical.

As a reminder, Elon Musk launched a poll on Twitter in which he asked if he should leave the management of the platform. He promised in particular that he would comply with the result of the votes.

Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

The survey is now closed and it is the “Yeswhich won 57.5%. It must therefore be understood that the majority of Internet users want Elon Musk to no longer be in the direction of Twitter. Some thus show their opposition to the controversial decisions taken by the billionaire on the platform, others no doubt prefer to see him focus his energy more on Tesla or SpaceX.

Anyway, this poll was not really one since Elon Musk had already announced that he would leave his place as CEO of Twitter – even if he still seems to be looking for his successor. However, the victory ofYesdoes not seem to have pleased the businessman.

Rule change

Elon Musk responded positively to a user suggesting that only people who subscribe to the paid Twitter Blue offer should be allowed to vote in this type of poll concerning Twitter policy.

Good point. Twitter will make that change.

Good remark. Twitter will make this change“, replies the current boss of the social network to the blue bird.

The fault of the bots?

Elon Musk also suggests that the survey he conducted could have been loaded by bots. “Interesting“, he responds to people – including Kim Dotcom (ex-CEO of Megaupload) – evoking this track without real foundation.

The businessman, however, has not yet explicitly said whether he took into account the result of the survey or whether he disputed the outcome.

Elon Musk regularly proclaims his attachment to the most total freedom of expression and to democratic values. However, his detractors accuse him, on the contrary, of stifling the voices and actions going against his ambitions. Latest event: the imbroglio around the promotion on Twitter of competing social networks.

If Elon Musk were to officially accuse the bots of having tampered with the votes and only allow Twitter Blue subscribers to participate in this type of poll, he would undoubtedly give food for thought to his critics.
