After Princess Kate’s cancer became known, her husband is in “protection mode,” according to a royal employee.
Last Friday, March 22nd, Princess Kate (42) made her cancer diagnosis publicly. The timing of the announcement was not chosen by chance, as this date also marked the start of the Easter holidays for the children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5). Together with heir to the throne Prince William (41), the family of five has now retreated to their country estate Anmer Hall near Windsor Castle – which is particularly important to protect Princess Kate and her small children.

Until the end of the Easter holidays on April 17th, Kate’s family is expected to stay at the country estate Anmer Hall, which the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) once gave to her grandson William for his wedding to Princess Kate. William is anxious to protect his “wife and children” who are suffering from cancer, like an employee of the royal family revealed to the “Sunday Times”..
The heir to the British throne would be particularly influenced by traumatic experiences surrounding the accidental death of his mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997). “Without a doubt,” these horrific experiences have now put William in “protective mode” when it comes to his wife and children George, Charlotte and Louis, the palace insider explained.
The aim of the stay in Anmer Hall is to “isolate the family of five from the world” and at the same time carefully “look forward” while Princess Kate goes through her cancer treatment.
The royal insider further reminds that the royal family is “a family with real people at the center.” That’s exactly what the stay in Anmer Hall would be about – not about the royal institution or the monarchy as a whole.
Retreat for Kate and William
Kate and William have spent time out at Anmer Hall in the past, such as the family’s summer holidays. In previous interviews, the couple have talked about some of the activities the children enjoy there – from baking and cooking in the kitchen to arts and crafts projects.
Kate in particular is also a big fan of outdoor activities. A few years ago, the 42-year-old revealed that she was happiest “when I’m out in the country with my family and we’re all dirty.”
