After the letter of the rebellious sent this Friday morning to several left formations for the next election, the national secretary of the environmentalist party, Julien Bayou, opened the door to a rapprochement between their two formations.

After the letter sent by LFI this Friday morning to the PCF, the NPA and EE-LV to propose that they form a coalition for the legislative elections (June 12 and 19), the national secretary of the green party, Julien Bayou, announces that he wishes to be able to find an agreement with LFI “at least on a pact of non-competition, non-aggression”.
For the latter, the party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon has “great responsibility” to build “an axis of resistance and alternation” within the National Assembly. Bayou therefore proposes “a new approach” which could lead, “if the discussions lend themselves to it, on a common base of a few key proposals, on the environment, social justice, democracy”.
“Openness to dialogue”
Regarding the crucial point of the distribution of nominations, the poor result of Yannick Jadot does not endanger the presence of environmentalists in the legislative elections, says Bayou, who pleads for “a weighted, smoothed proportional”, which will take into account the result of the presidential election, but also “intermediate polls”, like the European or the regional ones, where the ecologists had made good scores. “LFI has the choice between establishing a domination on the left […] or build an axis of resistance and alternation for the country”, he explained.
If Bayou greets LFI’s courier as “an openness to dialogue”, he reminds us that environmentalists are not going “remove a lot” of what they said during the presidential campaign, in particular because there is “very significant disagreements with Jean-Luc Mélenchon on the country’s foreign policy, in particular on the relationship to Russia or authoritarian regimes”. “We respond favorably to the proposal for discussions”, but “we will not be able to bear injunctions, ecology will not be erased”, he adds.
Bayou is still trying to calm the situation between the two camps after a campaign punctuated by attacks decried by the rebellious, conceding “being well aware, it is also the electoral competition and the presidential one, that the words were more irritating and stinging than necessary”.
